Getting to and around Kiawah

From Charleston International, plan on 45 to 55 minutes to Kiawah. The route crosses to Johns Island, follows Maybank Highway, and finishes on the Kiawah Island Parkway, which passes Freshfields Village at the island entrance before reaching the gate. If you’re staying at The Dunlin on Johns Island, it’s on the way.

Kiawah is a gated island, and every vehicle needs a pass to get in. We arrange it before your pickup, so your chauffeur drives straight through to The Sanctuary, your villa or the clubhouse. The pass is $24 per car or van per day and $43 per bus, and we pass it on at cost.

Rideshares are hard to come by on the island, so a booked car matters both ways: it’s waiting when you land and when you’re ready to leave. Book sedans and SUVs at least 2 days ahead and Sprinters at least 7. Spring and fall weekends fill first.

Groups stay together in one vehicle. A Sprinter shuttle seats 13, 14 at most, with room for up to 14 large bags, which suits golf groups and families flying in together. Corporate groups and bigger reunions ride in motorcoaches for up to 54. For weddings, guest shuttles run between The Sanctuary, the villas and the venue on a set schedule, so no one has to drive after the reception.

For dinner in downtown Charleston, book hourly. Your chauffeur waits while you eat and drives you back to the island.
